INTERVENTION AND PREVENTION PROGRAM
An intervention and prevention program to reduce the rate of recidivism among students who, for disciplinary and delinquency issues attend alternative schools within the school district. Recidivists are more likely to enter the Juvenile Justice System than the non recidivist. (need documented research supporting this)
Ambassadors’ of Ambition and Achievement is modeled for engagement and change. Engaging families and youth in the process of gaining awareness of and making acknowledgment of patterns of behavior that result in alternative school, and inspiring change in Attitude=Ambition and Achievement.
Engaging Family for Change in Family Functioning
The program focuses on empowering and helping parents deal more effectively with their children’s behavioral problems and risk factors contributing to delinquency.
A main focus of the program is structured intervention to enhance and increase family problem-solving skills.
Additionally, focus is to improved ability of parents to provide structure and guidance to their children.
Engaging Youth for Change in Behavior and Academic Functioning
The program focuses on teaching youth cognitive skills for behavior management and for positive effect on reduction of delinquency and recidivism.
Within the programs psycho-educational classes of instruction and skill building include Aggression Redirection training.
Primary focus is given to counseling youth individually in an effort to change the way youth think about situations that may potentially involve delinquency, including how they may interpret their social surroundings, relate to others, and solve interpersonal problems.
With a Comprehensive cognitive-behavioral approach the program trains youth with an aim to develop the youth participants self control, consequential thinking, negotiation, and the ability to refuse drugs and alcohol.

This program significantly reduces the rate of relapse among students with disciplinary issues currently in alternate schooling. Students who relapse are more likely to enter the Juvenile Justice System than non-offenders. The Ambassadors of Ambition and Achievement is modeled to engage the youth and their families in gaining awareness of patterns in behavior and inspiring change.

This part of the program teaches cognitive skills to the students for better behavior management. Providence Counseling’s Aggression Redirection training counsels the youth to develop self-control, critical thinking skills and implement the ability to confidently refuse any drug. The focus is on how they may interpret their social surroundings, relate to others, and solve interpersonal problems.
Engaging Family for Change in Family Functioning
This part of the program empowers parents to effectively deal with their children’s delinquency issues and the stress factors that contribute to behavioral problems at school and home. It also focuses on the parents’ improvement in providing structure and guidance to decrease relapses into defiant behavior.
